Campli, is a small hamlets located in Abruzzo region. The hamlets is rich of traditions and boasts centuries of history.
In fact, the origin of Campli dates back to the Roman era and on the basis of some archaeological finds.
The Necropolis of Campovalano, includes over 600 tombs and burials dating from a period ranging from the late Bronze age to the Roman conquest.
Civitella del Tronto, located in Abruzzo, on the border with the Marche region. Its origins are very ancient: it is from the XI century the first documentary source that mentions “Tibitella” as a border town between the Aprutina basin and the Ascoli basin.
The majestic Fortezza, a medieval fortified borough towering above the hamlet surrounded by walls, is a unique example of medieval military architecture in Abruzzo.
Our tour begins in Campli, a small historic town encircled by a cluster of hamlets, surrounded by greenery, at the foot of Gemelli Mountains.
The visit starts at the Archaeological Museum, which is located in the former convent complex adjacent to the Romanesque church of San Francesco (13th-14th century).
We will visit the different sections of the museum. We continue towards the main square of the hamlet, where you can find the monumental Palazzo Farnese, the ancient Parliament Building. Visit the church of Santa Maria in Platea and the beautiful Scala Santa. After the visit of Campli, we will proceed to the nearby Campovalano.
Visit the huge necropolis; a specialized guide will tell us secrets and mysteries of this beautiful site. Not far from the necropolis, we can find the church of San Pietro in Campovalano in Romanesque style, restored in the XII / XIII centuries, has a massive bell tower and a structure with three naves.
After lunch, we will proceed to Civitella del Tronto, located on the border with the Marche region.
